Doctor & Hospital Resources

Boston Realty Net has worked with many medical professionals, residents, and fellows moving to Boston to join some of the best hospitals, medical research facilities, and schools in the United States. We understand the difficulty that you face in moving to Boston and the expense and time it takes in finding an apartment. We aim to make the process as simple, efficient and effective as possible.

Massachusetts General Hospital

Each year hundreds of residents and fellows move from all over the world to continue their research and training at the oldest and largest hospital in New England. Since 1811, Mass General Hospital has been serving the needs of Bostonians. Located in the historic Beacon Hill neighborhood of Boston, Mass. General has become a historical landmark in Boston's rich architectural history. Frequently, Harvard medical residents work at both the Longwood Medical Area and Mass. General Hospital.

Many MGH residents search for apartments and condominiums that are on the "Red Line" train line, which has the closest stop to the hospital, the "Charles/MGH" stop. The Red Line runs from Somerville through downtown Boston and ends in Dorchester and Quincy. Red Line Schedule.

There is also a Partners Shuttle Bus that has a large number of shuttles going in different loops to such places as Longwood Medical Area in Brookline, MIT, the Prudential Center in the Back Bay, Charlestown, Chelsea and East Boston. Beacon Hill, West End and Back Bay are three neighborhoods very close to MGH. Beacon Hill consists of a variety of brick buildings mostly constructed in the 1800's. Beacon Hill studios start at $900 per month or $175,000 for sale. One bedrooms normally start at $1200 per month or the high $200,000's for sale. Two bedrooms normally start at $1800 per month or in the low $400,000's for sale. Three bedrooms normally start at $2400 per month or in the low $600,000's for sale. Beacon Hill sold condominiums average at $692 per square foot, with an average selling price of $651,083 and a median selling price of $505,000 for all condos sold from 2005 to 2006.

West End is an area that consists of large high-rise apartment complexes. The company which owns many of these high-rises offers a rent discount to Partners employees. West End studios normally start at $1300 per month or the low $200,000's for sale. One bedrooms normally start $1600 per month or the mid to high $200,000's for sale. Two bedrooms start at $2100 per month or the mid-$400,000's for sale. Three bedrooms normally start at $3000 per month or $850,000 and up for sale. These include the downtown neighborhoods (Waterfront, North End, Leather District, Financial District, Midtown), Back Bay, South End, Fenway, Cambridge, and Charlestown. Please refer to our "Neighborhoods" Page in the Rentals or Sales sections of our website for neighborhood descriptions, pictures and links.

Garage parking is available for rent in the recently constructed Charles River Plaza, which also features a Whole Foods Market. Rental garage parking is also available in many high-rise buildings in the West End area, the Boston Common Garage and the Government Center Garage. You can expect to pay a minimum of about $350 per month for full-time garage parking. There is sometimes the option of paying a "reverse-commuter" parking rate which is sometimes half the cost of full-time parking. The only requirement is that your car cannot be in the garage after 8 AM or before 6 PM on weekdays (full-time parking is allowed on weekends and most holidays). Parking is also free with a resident permit in most neighborhoods as long as your car is registered in Boston and you have proof of residency (such as a copy of your lease, utility bill with address, etc.).
